Monday Motivation-- Focus on the negative and guess what? More of the same. Point your time and energy towards positivity and THAT is what will manifest. Which brings me to why we are here today...I told you big things were on the horizon- #BELIEVE that.
I recently received the most amazing request that could not have been a bigger honor OR more my steez. Farfetch asked me to create a signature look featuring the ICONIC Saint Laurent Smoking Jacket....
Soo let's just pause there and let it sink in. OK.
If you read this blog regularly you will know that a) I am obsessed with black blazers and the color black in general b) if I could pick a capsule wardrobe of a select few luxury fashion designers Saint Laurent would definitely be one that topped the list c) I'm sorry... is there a more covetable blazer than this one? Swoon. OK back to scheduled programming.
The Bowes Museum and the Foundation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent are collaborating to create Yves Saint Laurent: Style is Eternal, a comprehensive display of the French fashion designer’s work and life. The exhibit will highlight the defining elements of his vision, and the significant influence it has had on fashion. Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” Articulating this idea, the exhibition will include iconic pieces from the Russian Collection, the Mondrian dresses and my personal favorite the Tuxedo. If you find yourself in the UK (head northeast) by or before October 25th, definitely check it out.
So the ask? Create a signature look using Saint Laurent pieces reflecting Eternal Style (see above--are you still with me???!!). Below are my two looks. As you know I am a shoe fiend so had a difficult time deciding which look I liked more. So let's call it late-Summer versus Fall. And yes I would rock a leather turban in the Summer--have we met? Heat be damned!!!
My picks were simple, classic blazer, leather shorts for a modern but timeless vibe, white shirt (with neck tie) and these gorgeous over-the-knee boots /or gold pumps. For details, I choose the iconic clutch in an animal print, a statement ring and oh and a leather turban if you are committed ;) like I am. Think of it as a modern but casual tuxedo. Links are live should you get the itch. To complete the look I would definitely recommend neutral make-up look punctuated by a red lip.
All of these pieces work very well together or as stand alone statement pieces within other outfits season after season. Let me know what you think and which look you like better or what piece you wish the fashion gods would bestow upon you. Stay Posh!
*Note: www.Farfetch.com reached out to me to enter their Style is Eternal competition.
